In Spanish class, grades are based on student effort, preparation, participation, understanding, and progress toward course expectations. Students are encouraged to take risks, practice speaking Spanish, ask questions, and learn from their mistakes.

4 – Exceeds Course Expectations with Distinction

A student receiving a 4 consistently goes above and beyond what is expected in Spanish class.

• Always comes to class prepared and ready to learn. Copybook and folder are up to date, Chromebook is charged.
• Demonstrates excellent effort and a positive attitude.
• Consistently demonstrates a high level of understanding and Spanish skills based on course standards.
• Shows creativity and finds new ways to use and apply Spanish.
• Goes beyond class expectations, such as helping or teaching classmates, taking on extra challenges, or completing additional projects.

⭐ 3 – Meeting Course Expectations

A student receiving a 3 is consistently meeting the expectations for Spanish class.

• Comes to class prepared and ready to learn. Copybook and folder are up to date, Chromebook is charged.
• Demonstrates good and consistent effort.
• Consistently demonstrates understanding and Spanish skills based on course standards.
• Participates appropriately and demonstrates sound thinking.
• Completes classwork and assignments with care.

 2 – Progressing Toward Course Expectations

A student receiving a 2 is making progress but still needs additional practice and support.

• Does not consistently come to class prepared to learn. Copybook and folder are missing entries, Chromebook is not charged or left behind.
• Effort and participation need improvement.
• Demonstrates some understanding of the Spanish skills and concepts taught.
• Needs additional practice to consistently meet course expectations.
• Benefits from extra support, practice, and encouragement.

 1 – Area of Concern

A student receiving a 1 needs significant additional support and time to develop the basic skills and understanding expected in Spanish class.

• Does not consistently demonstrate effort. 
• Does not come to class prepared to learn.
• Does not yet meet course standards.
• Requires additional time, instruction, practice, and support to develop basic Spanish skills and understanding.

Our goal is to help every student grow in confidence and ability while learning Spanish. Grades reflect where students are in their learning journey and how consistently they demonstrate the course expectations.

Every student can grow! Consistent effort, preparation, participation, practice, and a willingness to learn from mistakes are all important parts of success in Spanish class.
