The ABC’s of Pre K 4 B

Absences – If your child is going to be absent, a parent should send a message on Brightwheel along with a reason. A child will need a doctor's note to return after three days or more.
Arrival – 8:00-8:20 Parents will park and walk the child to our classroom using the steps closest to the main school building. Please use the Ipad at our classroom door to sign in. Please say your goodbyes and allow your child to enter our classroom and unpack independently.
Art – Our class will have Art with Mrs. Rowland on Thursdays.
Backpacks – Students should bring a backpack to school everyday. Please make sure the backpack is large enough to fit the take-home folder and a winter coat. Please mark your child's name inside his/her backpack.
Belongings - Please mark all belongings (backpack, lunch box, sweatshirt, etc.) with the first name and the last name of the student.
Birthdays – Pre-K birthdays are very special times and birthday treats can come into help celebrate. I will let you know of any allergies. The birthday child will be recognized during morning announcements and in the classroom throughout the day. Summer birthdays can be celebrated on a half birthday or during the month of May.
Behavior- Our school uses PBIS focusing on the positive behaviors.CARES – MPRCS has a before and after school program. Information regarding the CARES program can be found on the school website.
Class Trips - We will be heading to the Garden City Firehouse in October and the Elmwood Park Zoo in April. Clearances are needed to attend.
Conferences – Parent-Teacher conferences are scheduled October 30 from 4-7 pm and October 31 from 8am till noon. Each family is scheduled for a fifteen minute conference. Conferences can be arranged any time the parent or teacher feels they are necessary.
Church - Please make weekly attendance at Mass a family priority.
Dismissal – Students will be picked up at our classroom door between 2:45 pm and 3pm dismissal. An adult will need to sign out on the Ipad.
**** If there is a change in your child’s normal method of transportation at dismissal, please send a message on Brightwheel, an email or call the school office.
Early Dismissal – If your child needs to leave early for an appointment or due to sickness, your child will need to be signed out.
Emergency Procedures – If an incident should occur, our school will contact the parents. If the parents cannot be reached, they will contact those people you have designated on the information sheet filled out in September. Be sure to update any phone number changes as needed throughout the year. Occasionally minor accidents happen during the day. If I feel that a situation was handled properly, I will not call you at work. Examples: applied bandage, cleaned a cut or scrape.
Extra Clothing- will be kept in the classroom. It should be a gym uniform. I will send out reminders to change from shorts to pants and then pants to shorts.
Homework - comes home on Mondays to be returned by Friday. It is optional but suggested. Please complete at a table with a pencil and use crayons to color.
Library – Our class will have Library with Mrs. Jennings on Wednesdays.
Music - We have music class on Fridays with Mr. Azzolina.
Physical Education – Our class will have P.E. with Mrs. Meehan on Mondays. Wear gym uniforms.
Snack – We will have a short snack every morning. Please send in a healthy snack that your child can eat in a short period of time (five or ten minutes). Free morning snacks will be provided and if your child is happy to eat that you do not need to send a snack to school. There is an option of ordering a pretzel. The pretzel order is for the upcoming two months. If a pretzel is ordered, your child will receive a pretzel for snack every day that is ordered for the next two months. Please make sure your child will want that every day before ordering it. Please send a filled water bottle every day.
Spanish - We have Spanish on Tuesdays with Senora Callejas Alvarez.
Take-Home Folder – Please check and empty every night.
Technology - Our class will have computer class with Mrs. Pry on Wednesdays.
Uniforms – Students should wear the school gym uniform on gym day. Formal uniforms need to be worn on Mass days. Updated uniform policies can be found on the school website.
Volunteers – Need to check with the school office on obtaining clearances.
