Paul Durkin was raised in Upper Darby, PA and lived there until his marriage in 1963 to Maryann Saracina of Prospect Park. They had three children Patricia, Elizabeth, and Jennifer. They lived in Broomall, PA, Tulsa, OK and Owosso, MI while Paul was employed by Sunoco, Inc. for over thirty years in various managerial positions including Public Relations and Public Policy. Upon returning to the Delaware Valley in 1978 they resided in West Chester, PA until Maryann’s untimely passing in 1994 after thirty years of marriage. In 1999 Paul met Perry Aievoli of Hamilton Twp., NJ and they were married in 2000 and lived in Wallingford, PA until 2020 when they moved to Whitehorse Village in Newtown Square, PA. Paul started his volunteering work while in West Chester. First as Chapter Chairman of the Chester Wallingford American Red Cross. Then as a coached in the West Chester Girls softball league. He also attended Immaculata College receiving his degree in Business Administration after six years of night school. He was past Chairman of the Sts. Simon & Jude Development Committee and served as a mentor to prisoners with the Threshholds Group of Delaware County. He was elected in the Second Ward as a Democratic Committee man of Nether Providence in 2002 and later as the Majority Inspector. He served on the Board of the Community Arts Center in 2001 and as Board President in 2007 for four years. He also served on the Board of Directors for Hedgerow Theater in Rose Valley. Furthermore, he is currently Secretary on the board of Directors of The Community Action Agency, a full-service social service organization serving Delaware County. Paul was elected to the Residence Association at Whitehorse where he currently serves as President of the Association. Currently a member of the Parish Council at Nativity BVM and serves as a Communion Minister. He is also serves as a member of The Next Generation Parish Program since 2022.
